Protect Your ChatGPT Account with Lockdown Mode: A New Security Feature

When people talk about ChatGPT, they typically focus on its impressive AI capabilities, content generation powers, or automation features. But here's what's interesting: OpenAI just rolled out Lockdown Mode, a security-focused feature designed to strengthen ChatGPT's security posture. This isn't about adding flashy new tools—it's about protecting what matters.
The Lockdown Mode was built specifically to shield users and organizations from data breach risks. Rather than expanding ChatGPT's functionality, this mode intentionally restricts certain features like web browsing, Deep Research, and Agent Mode to minimize security vulnerabilities. For businesses, research institutions, and anyone regularly handling sensitive information, this represents a solid security option worth considering. If you're ready to lock down your account, here's how to get started.
How to Enable Lockdown Mode on ChatGPT
Step 1:
From the ChatGPT main interface, click on Settings in your account menu.

In the settings window, locate and select Security and Login.

Step 2:
Once the security options appear, look to the right side under Advanced Security and toggle on Lockdown Mode.

A confirmation dialog will appear explaining what Lockdown Mode does. Click Enable to activate it.

When enabled successfully, you'll see a confirmation message on your screen.
If you ever want to turn off Lockdown Mode, simply flip the Lockdown Mode toggle back to the off position.
