This Android Gaming Phone Just Shattered Smartphone Battery Life Records

Forget the iPhone 15 Pro Max — the Asus ROG Phone 8 Pro is currently the battery endurance champion among all smartphones, according to fresh testing data from Tom's Guide experts.

Here's how the testing worked: researchers continuously loaded different web pages over 4G mobile connections on various phones until the batteries completely drained. The ROG Phone 8 Pro obliterated previous records, delivering an impressive 18 hours and 48 minutes at auto-refresh rates.
When locked at 60Hz refresh, the gaming phone managed 18 hours and 56 minutes of battery life. What's interesting here is that most users probably won't stick with fixed refresh rates anyway — the ROG Phone 8 Pro features a 165Hz display with adaptive refresh ranging from 1-120Hz for practical, everyday use.

The competition? Not even close. The Galaxy S23 Ultra managed just 12 hours and 22 minutes, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max hit 14 hours and 2 minutes. That's a substantial gap.
The real advantage here extends beyond longevity. The ROG Phone 8 Pro also crushes rivals in charging speed thanks to its 65W fast-charging standard — significantly quicker than what the competition offers.
The smartphone landscape will shift once iPhone 16 and Galaxy S24 arrive in 2024. We'll be curious to see whether either flagship can dethrone the ROG Phone 8 Pro's battery dominance.
